Impact on shareholders
According to the state-owned company, the amount of R$ 1.55174293 will be paid per ordinary and preferred share in circulation. The measure is in line with Petrobras' shareholder remuneration policy, which allows extraordinary payments as long as the company's financial sustainability is maintained.
Throughout 2024, Petrobras has already distributed R$ 44.14 billion in dividends, adding up the amounts paid in the first three quarters of the year. In November, the company announced R$ 17.12 billion in ordinary dividends for the third quarter. In the first two quarters, payments amounted to R$ 13.57 billion and R$ 13.45 billion, respectively.
Strategic plan 2025-2029
In addition to the dividends, Petrobras has unveiled its new business plan for the years 2025 to 2029, with a total investment of US$ 111 billion. The figure represents an increase of 8.8% compared to the previous plan, which foresaw US$ 102 billion between 2024 and 2028.
Under the management of Magda Chambriard, the new plan will prioritize the expansion of oil and gas production, which will receive US$ 77 billion of the total. Another US$ 20 billion will go to refining, transport, marketing, petrochemicals and fertilizers.
The company estimates production of 3.2 million barrels of oil and gas equivalent per day during the period. With regard to the distribution of ordinary dividends, the forecast is for an initial amount of US$ 45 billion, with the possibility of extraordinary payments of up to US$ 10 billion between 2024 and 2029.
Last year, Petrobras distributed R$ 72.4 billion in total dividends, consolidating its position as one of the most profitable companies in the global energy sector.
